FUFFELBOY ANIMATIONS

..i pixeled these sprites a while ago, but so far I was unable to actually test the animations - at least until last week, when @g1d30n implemented the movement for the main character... and now look at the little fella... happily runing and jumping around. I couldn't be more pleased.

INSIDE DRAGON CASTLE

..it's still a bit empty without the NPCs. I guess I'll pixel those next - before I start yet another deserted background tileset :)


I wish that Pico8 would support some sort of proper square-pixel 16:9 screen mode. I must confess that I really dislike the gigantic black borders left and right. It feels a bit like watching an old TV Show on a modern screen - only worse. To me that's the opposite of a positive nostalgic connotation. Wouldn't it be cool to get access to all of the screen estate of modern displays?

DRAGON CASTLE BACKGROUND TWEAK

I wasn't very happy with the background tiles in my previous post. I felt that the flat grey bricks made the level rather boring. I spent three more 8x8 tiles on the background and I think they're worth it. The general atmosphere of the level is a lot more "castle" than in the previous version, don't you think?


I also changed the colours slightly so that the front and back are better seperated with the added bonus that the whole screen appears less grey because of that.

OUR POCKET CHIPS HAVE ARRIVED!

I'm seriously tempted to work on the Pocket Chip exclusively for this game - just because I can.


My current setup consists of the Pocket Chip with a bluetooth keyboard, a usb mouse and an extra 12.000mA/h battery pack. This *should* get me through a 48h game jam without ever needing to recharge. Take that Intel based notebooks! ;) The only complaint that I have at the moment is that the mouse is too senstive within Pico-8 and thus navigation in the editor is a bit of a pain. I hope that this can be tweaked one way or the other...

.. and here's a preview of the ingame textbox. I'm aiming for a lot of text, so two lines likely won't be enough. We'll probably be ending up with three or four. We'll see...
